I own an apartment in Ljubljana, but I live in Germany, so any small household issue used to turn into a real headache. I'd have to ask friends, wait for a neighbour to get back to me, or try to line up a tradesperson from a distance.
DomCare has made all of that so much simpler. Slava comes by regularly, checks the apartment, takes the meter readings, looks over the main areas and sends photos afterwards. What I like is that it isn't just a quick "everything's fine" — it's a clear report: what was checked, what's in order, and anything worth keeping an eye on.
For an owner who isn't based in Slovenia full-time, it's a really practical arrangement.

We'd been away from our house in Slovenia for nearly two months and wanted to be sure everything was fine. We were especially concerned about the heating, the windows, the post and the general state of the house after being away for so long.
DomCare came over, checked the main things, photographed the key areas and sent a report. It clearly set out what had been checked, what was in order, and whether anything needed attention.
That's exactly the kind of arrangement we'd been missing: not full-blown property management, but a reliable presence on the ground when we're not in Slovenia.
At first we only signed up for Key Holding, since we aren't at our house in Slovenia every week. We thought of it as a back-up option, just in case.
But before long the service came in handy: we needed to let a tradesperson into the house while we were in Austria. Slava arranged a time, came over, gave them access, made sure the work had started, and sent photos afterwards.
After a few situations like that, we realised it would suit us better to stop arranging things one job at a time and move to regular Property Care instead. Now DomCare checks the house on a schedule, we get the reports, and we know the place is fine. For us it has turned out to be both more convenient and better value than sorting every issue out separately.
We have a house in Slovenia, but we only get there a few times a year. The first day used to vanish into the practical stuff: airing the place out, checking the heating, cleaning, doing a food shop, sorting out the little things that pile up after a long absence.
This time Slava and Alina had the house ready before we arrived: everything was clean and warm, the rooms were made up, the basics were all in place. Arriving was a genuinely lovely surprise — the house welcomed us as if someone really had thought about us in advance.
It felt like Slava and Alina look after more than just our house — they look after us. That completely changes how a trip feels: you arrive and start unwinding straight away, instead of dealing with problems.
After the tenant moved out, the apartment was in reasonable shape, but it needed sorting quickly before the next step. I didn't have the time to handle the cleaning and the inspection myself.
DomCare arranged the cleaning, checked the result and sent photos once it was done. They also pointed out a few small things worth fixing before the next occupant.
What I liked was how clear and straightforward it all was, with no endless back-and-forth. One point of contact, and the job was done.
A few small jobs had been piling up around the apartment for a while: a door that wouldn't close properly, the silicone seal in the bathroom that needed redoing, lightbulbs to replace and some loose fittings to tighten. None of it was a big deal on its own, but together it was a constant low-level annoyance.
Slava agreed the list with me beforehand, turned up with the right tools and got it all done in a single visit. Whatever could be sorted on the spot, he sorted — and for a couple of items he was honest that they were better handled separately by a specialist.
I liked that approach: no exaggeration, no trying to inflate the job, just tidy work on a few household tasks.
We started with Key Holding through DomCare, because we don't live in Slovenia full-time and wanted reliable access to the apartment without having to pass keys around through friends or neighbours every time.
The service soon came in handy: an appliance installation needed organising while I was abroad. Slava arrived at the agreed time, opened up the apartment, met the installers, checked the delivery and sent photos once everything was in.
In the end it was more than just a key-holding service — it was proper hands-on help on the ground. It's very practical when you don't just need someone to open the door, but to make sure the contractor actually turned up, the work got done, and the owner got a clear update.
We had a small renovation done on our apartment in Ljubljana while we were back in Germany. The hard part wasn't the renovation itself — it was staying on top of it: letting the contractors in, explaining the job, checking the result and collecting the paperwork.
Slava took on the on-site side of things. He met the contractors, recorded the condition of the place before work started, sent photos at the key stages, and flagged anything that needed a decision from us.
Without that kind of help we'd have had to travel to Slovenia ourselves several times. For an owner managing things from abroad, it's a genuinely practical service.
After moving to Ljubljana we had a lot of small but urgent jobs to deal with: take a furniture delivery, assemble a wardrobe, get the appliances connected, clear out the packaging and get the apartment looking presentable. Taken one by one, it all felt rather chaotic.
Slava pulled the tasks into one clear process. He quickly worked out what needed doing first, what could be sorted on the spot, and what was better arranged separately. You could tell straight away he'd done this kind of thing before — and, honestly, we breathed a sigh of relief.
For expats this is genuinely valuable. The first few days after a move are already full of things to organise, so having one experienced person on the ground makes life so much easier.
We needed to hand the apartment over to a new tenant, but we couldn't travel to Slovenia in person. What worried us most was making sure the condition of the apartment was properly documented at the moment of handover.
Alina walked us through the whole process without any of the usual stress: she inspected the apartment, photographed the main areas, took the meter readings, recorded the key handover and sent us a report.
Now we have a clear baseline in case any questions come up with the tenant later on. This is exactly the part of renting that's so difficult to do properly from a distance.
Following a bereavement, we needed to clear out an inherited apartment in Slovenia. It still held a lot of furniture, documents, personal belongings and items that each needed a separate decision. We couldn't deal with it ourselves, and on top of that it was emotionally difficult.
DomCare handled it carefully. They photographed anything that needed a decision from us, set aside documents and items that might have value, and checked with us on what to keep, what to take away and what to pass on.
In a situation like that, it isn't enough to just "clear the place out" — you need someone who works thoughtfully and respectfully. That's exactly what we got.
I was looking into buying an apartment in Slovenia, but flying out for a single viewing wasn't really practical. The listing photos made the place look good, but I wanted to see more detail before taking the next step.
DomCare visited the property on my behalf, filmed a video, took photos and specifically pointed out the things the listing didn't show: the state of the communal entrance, the windows, minor wear and tear, the overall feel of the apartment and the neighbourhood.
It's no substitute for a proper technical survey, but as a first independent look on the ground it was extremely useful. After the report I felt far more confident.
